Tailoring II

Course Description:

Tailoring II is a 40-clock-hour course in the Fashion Study Program. As the final course in flat patternmaking, students will create patterns for outerwear, including several types of coats, while mastering proper tailoring techniques. Each student will complete one fully lined suit, consisting of a lined jacket and bottom, as well as one fully lined coat.

8-Week Agenda

Week One

  • Introduction to the class

  • Draft the following:

    • Double-collar jacket with a double-layer skirt

    • Princess-cut blazer

Week Two

  • Work on the suit project

Week Three

  • Continue work on the suit project

Week Four

  • Continue work on the suit project

  • Submit course patterns

Week Five

  • Finalize the suit project

  • Cut fabric for the coat project

Week Six

  • Work on the coat project

Week Seven

  • Continue work on the coat project

Week Eight

  • Finalize the coat project

  • Submit the coat project
