ADMISSIONS PROCESS
At Blume & Hall Fashion Academy, we are dedicated to evaluating applicants based on their potential for success and their enthusiasm for mastering the Art of Couture. Applicants are evaluated based on their ability to succeed and their passion for the Art of Couture. All applicants must provide proof of educational eligibility:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
Official transcript of completed post-secondary coursework, if applicable
Documentation for home-schooled students
Applicants under 18 must have parental consent. No prior experience is required; students begin with foundational courses in tailoring and progress to advanced design techniques.

Blume & Hall Fashion Academy does not discriminate based on age, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or religion. Admission may be denied if applicants have a criminal record or pose safety concerns.
Communications regarding admission should be addressed to Amanda Morley. Applications for admission should be submitted early so that scheduling of classes can be facilitated.
Students will need to schedule a school tour to visit the school campus as well as discuss the application process. Scheduling a tour can be booked online or by phone. After meeting with the student and the full application process is discussed and filled out, all applicants will be notified of action taken as quickly as possible by email after the interview with Amanda Morley. All applicants who are under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for permission to enroll.
Each class meets once a week for 1 hour of lecture and 4 hours of hands-on work. Each class has a maximum of 8 students.
This allows for an 8-to-1 student-to-instructor ratio for a more hands-on learning environment. For a course to be scheduled, it must have a minimum of 4 students enrolled.

Admission Procedure
Blume & Hall Fashion Academy has one Pre-Requisite: Completion of Basic Tailoring course.
Any student enrolled who has a disability/special needs that may prevent the full participation in our Academy courses should contact us prior to signing up so the Academy can make the necessary accommodations and facilitate their educational opportunity. ( See our Contact Us page).
RE-REQUISITES
Minimal acceptable grades and/or grade point average for acceptable transfer of credits will be 70% or higher on a scale of 100%, in accordance with ACCET standards. A maximum for the program of 25% or 150 hours will be accepted for transfer of credit.
Transcript, catalog, syllabi, or course outlines must be provided to before requesting transfer credits to make sure that the course curriculum coordinates with the one taught by B&H Due to the sequence of Courses in the Fashion Study program, credits can not be approved for lessons that have not been taught to the student. If any additional information is required, we will contact the school’s admissions office to request additional materials.

The Test will consist of completing a lesson without the course book. The test administrator will provide an outline of the objectives and provide materials to complete the test. This test will not be open to outside student notes.
A review will be completed by an instructor to compare and decide if transfer of credits should be awarded. Students can request an appeal. Once an appeal has been requested, the review will be completed a second time by a different instructor to decide if the transfer of credits should be awarded. Tuition will be adjusted by hourly cost weighting.
B&H will assist students when requesting transfer to other institutions, including, but not limited to, providing guidance or counseling and providing an official transcript, syllabi, or course outline. If the school receives a request for a transcript to be sent to the school. B&H will send a transcript to the requested school within 7 business days. Students will be charged $15.00 per request. Any institution making statements relative to the acceptance of its coursework for credit by B&H must have documented evidence to support such statements.
TRANSFER OF CREDITS
Students are expected to:
Maintain professionalism with staff, peers, and visitors
Follow all safety guidelines
Keep workspaces and equipment in proper condition
Adhere to dress codes (white couture coat required starting Basic Design 001, appropriate footwear, and modest attire)
Limit cell phone use during class
Prohibited: Drugs, alcohol, weapons, harassment, and unsafe conduct. Violations may result in disciplinary action, including termination.
The academy will not tolerate discrimination or harassment based on protected characteristics. Violations will lead to disciplinary action, including termination. Reports of harassment will be investigated.
The use of drugs or alcohol on campus is strictly prohibited. Substance abuse testing may occur, and violations can lead to termination or medical leave.
No weapons or explosives are allowed on campus.
Disciplinary actions for unacceptable behavior may include warnings, counseling, suspension, or termination based on the severity of the violation.
Classes meet once weekly for 5 hours (lecture + lab). Students must maintain 80% attendance for satisfactory progress. Absences, tardiness, and early departures must be approved. Excused absences include illness, family emergencies, or inclement weather.
Leave of Absence: Available for emergencies, serious illness, or family emergencies, with a maximum of 180 days per year or half the program length.
Make-Ups: All missed hours must be made up with instructor approval.
Student Conduct
Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 70% and 80% attendance. Progress is reviewed at Week 5 of each 10-week course. Incomplete or failed courses must be repeated, and all program requirements must be completed within 1.5 times the normal program length.
Students submit fourteen designs for the graduation project, with at least four created independently from instructor guidance
Graduates receive a Fashion Study Diploma upon successful completion of coursework, attendance requirements, and the graduation project. A formal graduation ceremony and fashion show are held for graduating students.

Fashion shows and designer calls
Field trips to fabric stores, fashion businesses, and industry events
Hands-on project assistance and tutoring
Career placement guidance in fashion-related industries
Blume & Hall Fashion Academy supports both employment and self-employment opportunities for graduates.

Attendance Policies
Students are expected to attend all class sessions. Each student must sign in and out in the student logbook with their time. Classes are held once a week for 5 hours. If a student misses 5 hours, they must make up the time in the following week. Absences should be approved by the instructor as soon as possible.
Excessive Absences: Students accumulating more than 20% absences must repeat the course to remain eligible for the next course in the program.
Excused Absences: The school recognises the following as valid reasons for an excused absence: death in the immediate family, job-related interviews (with instructor approval, up to 10 hours/year), physical exams for job placements, personal illness, and inclement weather. Opportunities to make up excused hours will be provided based on class availability within the 8-week timeframe of the course.
Inclement Weather: Following the Little Rock Public School District's schedule, students commuting from far should prioritise their safety and inform the instructor if unable to attend due to weather conditions.
School Holidays: Absences during school holidays are not counted.
No classes during Thanksgiving week.
Two weeks off for the end of December and New Year’s (dates to be announced).
Spring Break in March (dates to be announced).
Attendance Records: The school will maintain accurate records of attendance and absences.
Tardiness: Students arriving more than 10 minutes late will be marked tardy. Three tardies equal one absence.
Early Departures: Must be pre-approved by the instructor and documented with a written slip signed by both parties. Unapproved early departures will be marked as tardy. Excused early departures due to weather will be accommodated for makeup hours.
Consecutive Absences: Missing 30 consecutive days will result in withdrawal from the course unless a leave of absence has been agreed upon.
Leave of Absence
A leave of absence may be granted for emergencies such as serious illness or death in the family.
Requests must be submitted in writing, preferably before the leave begins, unless unforeseen circumstances arise. Failure to request within the designated timeframe may result in withdrawal.
The request must specify the reason for the leave to help the institution anticipate the student's return.
Students must acknowledge an understanding of the leave procedures and implications for returning.
The school will document approval decisions according to policy.
No additional charges will be incurred due to a leave of absence.
Leaves must not hinder student progress and must be reasonable within the curriculum
context.
Maximum leave is 180 calendar days within a 12-month period or half the program length,
whichever is shorter. Extensions may be granted under the same conditions.
MAKE-UPS
All missed class time can be made up with instructor approval. Makeup work must be completed
within the scheduled course timeframe and will be comparable in content and delivery.
Dress Code
A White Couture Coat is required after Basic Design 001.
Students must be clean and well-groomed; grooming styles will not be restricted.
Inappropriate clothing is prohibited.
Clothes must be safe and comfortable for sewing tasks.
Shoes must fully cover the foot.
Excessive perfumes and smoke are not allowed.
Violations may lead to removal until corrected, with warnings leading to potential termination after three incidents.
Termination
Violations may lead to termination, with written reasons provided. Students can appeal termination within five days, providing documentation of mitigating circumstances. Appeals will be assessed and responded to within ten days.
Student Complaint Policy
Complaints can be addressed verbally or in writing. The academy is licensed by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education, and grievances can be submitted to them for further action.
