Intermediate Design

Course Description:

Intermediate Design 002 is a 40-clock-hour course within the Fashion Study Program. In this course, students will create patterns for blouses, sleeves, and collars. Each student will apply the essential steps required to construct a blouse, including sleeve and collar variations. By the end of the course, students will complete two fully constructed blouses.

8-WEEK AGENDA

WEEK ONE

• Introduction to class

• Drafting basic bodice front and back patterns

• Cutting the basic bodice sample project

WEEK TWO

• Continue working on the basic bodice sample blouse

WEEK THREE

• Draft the following:

  • Basic sleeve

  • Fitted sleeve

  • Bell sleeve

  • Full sleeve with placket and cuff

WEEK FOUR

• Practice constructing a full sleeve with a placket and cuff

WEEK FIVE

• Continue sewing sleeves onto the sample blouse

WEEK SIX

• Draft the following:

  • Mandarin collar

  • Tuxedo collar

  • Round Bertha collar

  • Peter Pan collar

• Cut the selected collar for the sample blouse

• Attach the collar to the sample blouse

WEEK SEVEN

• Finalize basic bodice sample blouse

• Submit a basic bodice sample blouse

• Draft the following:

  • Shell blouse

  • Kimono blouse

  • Batwing blouse

• Cut a Kimono blouse

WEEK EIGHT

• Finalize the Kimono blouse

• Submit a Kimono blouse
