Coutour Design II

Course Description:

Couture II is a 40-clock-hour course within the Fashion Study Program. In this course, students will further develop advanced garment construction techniques with a focus on professional jacket design and tailoring. Students will explore shawl collar jackets, blazer jackets, stand-up collar coats, and wrap shirts, culminating in fully constructed outerwear pieces.

• Introduction to class

• Draft the following:

  • Wrap shirt

  • Shawl collar jacket

• Cut a shawl collar jacket

WEEK TWO

• Draft the following:

  • Unconstructed shawl collar jacket

  • Blazer jacket

WEEK THREE

• Continue working on the shawl collar jacket

WEEK FOUR

• Continue sewing sleeves onto the shawl collar jacket

WEEK FIVE

• Finalize the shawl collar jacket

• Submit a shawl collar jacket

• Cut a stand-up collar coat

WEEK SIX

• Continue working on the stand-up collar coat

WEEK SEVEN

• Continue sewing sleeves onto the stand-up collar coat

WEEK EIGHT

• Finalize the stand-up collar coat
